I KNEW IT!
I asked Matty about Bracey being one of his recommendations and he ignored it

I didn't follow the build up too much, but how did Bracey end up being the keeper?

Surely being able to both keep wicket and bat would be a pre-requisite for being selected as a wicketkeeper-batsman internationally?

Bracey appears unable to do either.

Does this help?

Just caught up with James Taylor who tells me that the score is 80/5 after hundreds for Sibley (one of mine) and Lawrence. A nice 65 for Bracey too (another of mine).

“How does someone like Ben Cox, widely considered to be in the top couple of keepers in the country get overlooked for him?”

For years now they’ve overlooked the best glovemen, not really a surprise is it.

So .... you are enthusiastic about COX, Jonah?
No surprise

Thats Ollie Ben COX the keeper for YOUR county Worcestershire isnt it?
A man who has a first class average 10 runs under Bracey.
England were unfortunate that FOAKES got injured pulling a hamstring in the Surrey dressing room (Dont ask, dont tell) when they'd decided that BUTTLER & BAIRSTOW were far too exhausted to play.
Suspect this was another fall out from STOKES not playing and the shaky batting at the top of the order.
Meant a spinner couldn't play and a batsman was picked to keep wicket.
Am sure BRACEY is a better player than he showed but might have a full Test career consisting of 8 runs at 2.66.

Terrible.

He spent the entire series looking bewildered.

I have no idea about your cricketing abilities, but it wouldn't be possible for me to categorically argue against your inclusion in the side.

Of course, you weren't to know you'd only need to be available for 3 days so you could probably have squeezed it in?

He got the gig because I couldn’t make it for all five days. Dreadful wasn’t he.

NZ very good side though and seem like decent blokes. Would like to see them beat India.

I mentioned at the time that the statement of the CEO of the ECB Tom Harrison surprised me with its hard core TONE.
Was allowing no understanding or giving them anywhere to go.
Root WAS pretty wishy washy just toeing the line and not making any waves.

Broad's record in Australia is 34 wickets in 12 Tests @ 37.17
Anderson's is 60 wickets in 18 Tests @ 35.43
Agree that the batting is obviously more of a problem.
Same for both teams ... Australia used 3 openers in the last Ashes and none of them averaged 10

Spot on surface.

Root should have stuck up for a Robinson but threw him under the bus.

Re: Second Test - England v New Zealand at Edgbaston
My loyalties are split when watching England vs NZ because I have dual nationality, one parent of each, I was born there but have lived here most of my life. I am happiest when the matches are very close and one side or the other sneaks a win - e.g. the WC Final, when Stokes's background muddied the water even further. But I felt embarrassed watching England's inept performance in this match and it didn't help that NZ is also a team I support.

NZ are actually ranked 2 behind India.

Not now, they're not.

Re: Second Test - England v New Zealand at Edgbaston
A captain and ruling body who didn't chuck their team-mates and players under the bus would be a good start.

What a useless captain and creep Joe Root is. His disloyalty is especially galling in light of the support he has received in his own brushes with authority over alleged racism.

If I was England I'd be heading to the Ashes looking to field Archer, Wood & Robinson. Plus Stokes and A SPINNER.
With Anderson pencilled in for the D/N Test at Adelaide and maybe Melbourne if the cloud cover / rain appears.
Broad in reserve in case Wood breaks

Doesn't matter which permutation of bowlers you use, when the batting is so rubbish.

It would be a severe embarrassment for Australia, if they do not win The Ashes comfortably. They should win at least 4 tests, weather permitting.

Seems a lot like the strategy we employed when we took Boyd RANKIN, sven son?

If he's fit, broad plays in Australia.

They did, and then we changed the ball, and we got exactly the same amount as they did. Happens sometimes.

Mark WOOD scored 70 runs in this match. Didn't look particularly menacing when he was batting. Could it just be that our top order is fucking shit?

It IS probably NZ's best ever team overall as said compared to the team that was Hadlee, M Crowe and 9 others

New Zealand were getting more swing than we did.

Get Ollie Robinson back.
